In his book, The Falling Sky,  indigenous Amazonian leader Davi Kopenawa articulates an analysis of Western economics that I thought would interest many people who don’t have time to read the whole book.  So I decided that i will work my way through Chapter 19, “Merchandise Love,” in eight video installments, of which this is first. (Kopenawa led the successful fight to create an autonomous region of Brazil for the Yanomami indigenous people, and was recently awarded the “alternative peace prize,” the Right Livelihood Award. )
